1. i've lived in fiji all my life, its a beautiful place, specially at this time of the year, let me warn you fro Nov-March is our hurricane season, which means warm weather, but also what the name suggests. i would highly recommend going to Suva city, since it is the capital, if you can take out time visit Nadi and Lautoka, also any other small tourist destinations, i can tell you that the water there is safe to drink......its really good. food is cheap, and you should not have much trouble getting transportation to anywhere you need to go.
