I want to visit Fiji. Anyone know how much money I should take for a one week stay?
Also, do you know of any great hotels to stay in and what activities I should try?

- Fiji is a very particular place to visit . Wherever you are coming from it's a long way . Is one week all you can manage , it is scarcely enough for visiting Fiji . 1st Get yourself a copy of Lonely Planet Fiji at your bookstore . It will give you an idea of where to go and what to do . Beachcomber island is very popular among the young for the party scene ; but other islands can be very quiet . The main Island can have a lot of rain . Read the guide book , look up Fiji on the internet , very well covered and illustrated . make a plan . Fly to Fiji ; at Nadi airport there is a very good agency for accommodation , that will fix you up with whatever you like . If money is tight you are thinking of at least $1000 . If you have a credit or debit card bring it . Some resorts use only cash and some only the card . At the agency you will pay for all accommodation and transport to get there ; they will advise you how much pocket money you will need , for drinks , snacks , boat trips , to buy local jewellery , rent mask and snorkel if you haven't your own ; or whether you have to use a credit card exclusively . I may be wrong re $1000 , from the guidebook and internet you can check it out for yourself . I spent two weeks in the Yasawa islands in 2003 , Nabua Lodge , Nacula island and loved every minute of it . Lovely people , simple , quiet , friendly charming people staying , lovely white sand beach , beautiful view . This may not ne lively enough for you , you have to choose what you like . The new Lonely Planet will give you a guide to prices . Rather than hotels ; I would recommend going to an off island , to stay in a simple Bure , be close to the natives . Take at least Factor 25 sun cream , the sun is very fierce , wear a sun hat cover up . Snorkelling is very popular , there are lovely coral reefs . Canoeing can be done , surfing un some islands , hiking too . This is my idea of heaven ; enjoy yourself .
- You need probably close to $200 per day spending on food, drinks and other stuff.
