Is Fiji as a country widely known to Americans?

This question is for Americans only please. I would like to know whether Americans have heard or know a country called Fiji and when someone mentions Fiji, what does come to mind? Thanks.

2. I think of the South Pacific because thats where Fiji is. Not all Americans are as ignorant as you believe them to be..
3. I'm aware, too, that it's a tropical island. I think the other person is right. Most Americans "of age" will know this.
4. Yes. I think many Americans know Fiji is an island in the Pacific Ocean. We think of it as having tropical weather and beautiful scenery. I have been there once, but many Americans do not consider it as a vacation option. People on the east coast of the United States go to the Caribbean because it is close (a 3-4 hour flight) from their homes. Those on the west coast fly to Hawaii or Mexico. Fiji is at least twice that distance - an eight hour flight from the west coast.
